Fr. Tony Update: Tucked in at Ruby
8pm and just home from Ruby Hospital. Tony's got a private room facing the football stadium... grin.... it *is* Lent, you know. (for those who don't know him very well, Tony has no desire to have anything to do with any type of sport, especially football... and here we live among a city full of avid football fans. LOL) I guess a little penance goes a long way. Actually, if you ignore the massive football stadium, the view is much nicer from this particular side of the hospital.
We were met by a flurry of doctors and nurses, all doing their part to check him over. After lengthy discussion with the very kind physicians about what's ailing our Tony, it looks like they're going to be focusing their efforts on possible pneumonia, and blood clot in the ankles.
By the time I'd left, he had his first "meal", lots of labwork done, Chest X-rays, injection of blood thinners (just in case), inhaler, and had him on oxygen. His breathing is still a bit labored, and the ankles don't hurt, unless he stands up.
Tomorrow they'll be doing a Doppler Ultrasound (Doppler ultrasound test uses reflected sound waves to evaluate blood as it flows through a blood vessel) on his ankles. I believe they'll also be doing a CT scan.
If you'd like to call and chat with him, simply call the hospital at (304) 598-4400, but not tonight, as I'm sure he's trying to sleep. I believe he's in room 921 (9 West), but the receptionist will know.
Geee, and guess who has a mid-term exam tomorrow! ugh!!! ME! Must go study, not that I think anything is going to sink in!
