FR TONY UPDATE:

Where did we leave off? Sorry I've not blogged in a several days... between Tony, School/Upcoming Finals, Megan returning home, etc, etc, etc...........

Tony's feeling a bit better. Ohhhh, he still suffers with fairly regular (and irregular) bouts of annoying aches or pains, but overall, he's managing. He'll be taking the early service tomorrow morning at 8am.

Dr. Craig has decided that after 6 months of beating Tony up with chemo, it's time to take a little break.... let him get back on his feet and feeling better, keep a watch on his lab work over the next two months, then most likely begin a new regimen of chemo at the end of summer.

In the meantime, we're going to squeeze that GIFT (trip to Hawaii) into the chemo break, and hopefully Tony will be able to stroll along the beach some, which is always food for the soul! So, the end of May we'll be flying to Maui for a little holiday..... rest and rejuvenation. As you can all imagine, we're both looking so forward to this trip. We've never really had a vacation like this where we could actually "get away from it all", and focus on nothing but relaxing.

To be perfectly honest.... Tony and I are still pinching ourselves. We cannot believe we're going to Hawaii, even though Pam has purchased the tickets and booked the condo! I feel like we won the lottery, without having bought a ticket!

We discovered the other day, while at the doctor's office... that our Dr. Craig will be in Maui during part of our trip! He's attending a conference on lymphoma. We hope to get together with Dr. C and show him around the island a bit, or maybe cook him a nice meal.

FAMILY STUFF:

THE TRUE MEANING OF: "Taken To The Cleaners"

Made a simple little trip to the DMV (Dept of Motor Vehicles) this past week, and while there I inquired about the 4WD we used to own. You see, a year or so ago our mechanic insisted my Nissan Pathfinder could not pass inspection, due to rust on the frame. As I was thoroughly enjoying this particular vehicle, I asked what it would take to simply change out the frame. Mechanic insured me it would be so expensive.... it wouldn't be worth the effort and/or expense.... and that was "if" they could find a frame. He "generously" offered to deduct $200. off our repair bill, and he'd see to hauling the car to the scrap yard. I was quite disappointed, but if the car was not able to be inspected, then it was clearly of no use to anyone, except maybe for parts... at least that's what I was told!

Low and behold.... several months pass and I see a Pathfinder, looking suspiciously similar to MY Pathfinder, driving down the road... and again, and again as each month passed. We returned to have a car repaired and my Nissan was still sitting on his property (with a tag!). I tried not to be too upset, and found it very awkward to do any business with the man, especially when he volunteered to tell me that he and his son changed out the frame and made the car good as new! GEEEE!!!

Back to the DMV part of the story. During my inquiry I found that not only had he kept MY car, but he hadn't switched over the title, and I was still being billed for taxes on the Pathfinder! Had he been in an accident, the car was still titled in MY name! Now?... I'm not a happy camper at all! Filled out some special documents stating I sold the car to him a year earlier, but they didn't seem interested in following up with Mr. Shifty Mechanic!

Mr. Crooked Mechanic simply bolted a "dealer" tag to the back of my car, replaced the frame, and has been driving it ever since! HRUMPH!!!!! To make matters worse, several months after he did this, he was checking out our Dodge Raider and said...... "You know, there's a lot of rust on that frame.... I'd be happy to haul it to the scrap yard for you!"

THE NERVE OF THE MAN!
Fool me once!..... Fool me twice?
I THINK NOT!

MEGAROO'S HOME SAFE AND SOUND:

After missing her flight from Bangkok to Japan..... and spending 24 hours in the Bangkok airport, our Megan finally made it home on Wednesday evening.

<--- Megaroo sitting in the Bangkok airport. Thank God she had internet access so we could keep up with her during the long wait.
