VERY EXCITED... MUST SHARE

Dear all:

Finally finished the ever lovin' walking stick I've been working on for months! You might recall I started taking a wood working class last fall. The goal was to try and copy a walking stick some good ole guys gave Tony, while we were living in South Dakota. He's been using that particular walking stick for several years, and I can't begin to tell you the number of folks who stop us on the street, and everywhere in between, to ask us "Where'd you get that gorgious walking stick"?

We'd be rich if I charged a dime for every time he's been asked about THAT STICK!

Well, I decided I had to try my hand at making one. This meant I had to find a lathe (as I can't afford one), and learn how to use it... I signed up for the woodworking class through MTEC, and have had the pleasure of working with a wonderful teacher named Ron, over at Suncrest Middle School. Of course, I wasn't able to finish the walking stick the last term, so had to sign up for the class again. Unfortunately, another student was signed up to use the lathe as well, which cut my lathe time in HALF! Hrumph!

By the way, if any of you locals are interested, they'll be signing folks up for fall classes, and this go round he's offering a beginners class, as well as the class for us addicts.

Anyway.... below are pictures of the finished project! Enjoy

This afternoon I'm going to watch a dear friend get a tattoo! EXCITING!
