Me thinks today will be a very "interesting" day..... the signs are mounting!
Post Surgery: Day Three: Quite cold out, and snow flurries.
- Epidural Out
- Catheter Out
- Tony's able to get out of bed to accomplish necessities
- Eating Well
- Resting
- Attempting to keep on top of the discomfort/pain
- Bed Bath, Shave and Hair Washed
- Back Side still looking a bit rough
- Yeast issues still being dealt with
- Still receiving breathing treatments and using his breathing thing to increase lung capacity
- Still on oxygen
- Still has chest tubes
Friday morning we were informed they were considering moving Tony to Health South, a nearby rehab facility. Tony's adamant he will not go there, as he's visited parishioners in this place over the past few years, and thought it a horrid place to be confined to. There was also much talk about the chest tubes coming out the following day.
Late morning: Took a break and went to Panerra to get some soup and fresh bagel for Tony's lunch. Stopped by Blockbuster to pick up a movie or two. Must now highly recommend the new DVD release, Amazing Grace.
During Tony's bed bath, we noticed the dressing over his chest tubes was looking quite "icky", and tried to find out who was in charge of cleaning and redressing the area. No luck. Although we'd brought the issue to the attention of many, we were unsuccessful in getting it seen to. By late afternoon, Dr. Craig came to visit, looked at it, and decided to take matters into his own hands, redressing the wound himself.
Early evening, Dr. Graber came to visit and spelled out the plan for the chest tubes and coming days. Chest tubes will remain in place at least till next Monday or Tuesday, then they'll begin the process of working on getting them out. So...... hours spent fretting about move to rehab facility were for naught.
EARLY Saturday Morning:
Tony awoke totally disoriented. No clue where he was, what the date was, etc. CT scan has been ordered, but by the time he called me an hour later, he seems to know quite well all that had been alluding him.
Poor guy.... I know he'll be OH SO happy when this is well behind him. Ohhhhh, to be able to wave a magic wand and make this all go away. The weekend is officially here, which means making progress, etc.... will be most unlikely.
