Saturday November 3, 2007: Fr. Tony Update
Things going very well in BMT unit. Thanks be to God! Tony's being well cared for there. No new info regarding lungs, etc, but we try not to expect too much on weekends.
I drove Megan to the Pittsburgh airport this morning, returned home to pick up new stack of cards in the mail, make a roast beef sandwich for Tony, then headed to hospital. He ate his sandwich and some fruit, even a wee bit of chocolate.
Britt came by with a lovely assortment of goodies, and home made HEARTY chicken soup. This evening he had a nice big bowl of it, along with a bit of bread, and butterscotch pudding for dessert. Tomorrow she's bringing shepherd's pie. YUM!
We've decided to take Tony's nutritional needs into our own hands. One can't help question the nutritional value of sloppy joes and tater tots for lunch, long dead sliver of pork and frozen veges for dinner, or Frosted Flakes for breakfast. We appreciate their efforts, but the culinary offerings won't do.
This evening Tony enjoyed a nice glass of Guiness, and toasted his Yorkshire cousins..... one of whom called him earlier today. Was lovely to hear from her.
Bishop Mike popped in on his way through town. Philip and Abbey checked in, and Megan called to say she'd arrived safely in Portland. Abbey will be skating in an All Stars bout, and I wish I could be there.
This afternoon I took a break and went over to the WVU Mountain Lair to see the art/craft festival. Much of the same as last year, but I picked up some spun wool and home made soap from a woman I met there last year. The quilts in the quilt show/display were lovely, as always. Nothing new and exciting, so I made my way back to hospital.
Must go.... Need to get home and spend time with the critters.
Much love to you all. Please continue to keep our Tony in your prayers.
