Tuesday (after checking to make sure it wasn't Wednesday):
(please forgive any typos or grammatical errors)

Arrived by 9am after spending the morning folding a bit of laundry and devoting a bit of time with the pups and parrots. Ruby (Congo African Grey) needed some time out of her cage, to spread her wings. Daisy (Goffins Cockatoo) spends the nights sleeping on my shoulder, so that's her "out" time.

Sorted out Hemmingway (ancient moggy) with a few heavy duty rubs under the chin, a delightful can of food (a rarity for him), and a reassuring chat that daddy would be coming home soon. Poor Hemmingway goes spare when daddy's not around.

Cleaned out Mikey's (Timneh African Grey) food and water bowls, yet again, and lectured him on not spoiling so much of his food by constantly dumping his water bowl into the seed bowl! Soggy Seeds! YUCK!!!

Put Harry and his mate outside for the day, after they finished their breakfast. Got Luigi and Penny settled in with a few treats and some warm kibble.

Tony called about 8am to say he'd had his ultra sound of the kidneys. Looks like they're doing better. By the time I arrived his bottom was bothering him terribly and he was diligently trying to get someone to find a doc to order some lydocane.

Shortly after I arrived we had a visit from the Wound Care Specialist (YAY!!). She was wonderful, and began rattling off the things she was going to do for Tony, to help get his bottom on the mend. A new fangled bed was ordered, arriving within hours..... VERY POSH INDEED! The bed is filled with air baffles which take turns inflating and deflating, continually shifting pressure.

Not long after the WC Specialist left, a Physical Therapist appeared. She did a thorough check up on Tony, instructed him on how to better ward off aches, pains and bed sores, then got him up out of bed for a VERY long stroll down the hall. Tony's now under orders to "walk" down the hall again tomorrow morning (with the aid of tube and O2 carriers) for his first exercise class.

Irene and Patricia arrived. Patricia brought Tony communion.

What a relief! Things are looking up! And.... the best news of the day (to Tony) was he's no longer on a NO FOOD or DRINK restriction! He gladly ate home made soup Britt delivered this morning, some jello, gatorade (and, shhhhh...... butterscotch pudding). We think his intestines and such are working again, which is a good thing!

Our Dr. C paid a visit and feels Tony's on the road to recovery..... Today Tony seems much more himself then he has the past couple days. I'm sure the issue of the 3rd tube took more out of him, emotionally, then anything going on inside. I'm so relieved he's feeling better, and eating! We're told the Thoracic Surgeon will be paying us a visit tomorrow. We shall see. He's a very busy man it seems.

After a very busy morning and early afternoon, Tony settled in for a nap, so I snuck away to let the pupps in as Winter decided to blow in. I think I even saw a snow flurry or two, as I was making my way across the parking lot. Brrrrrr

Early this evening Anne P. stopped by. It's always so grand to see her..... as she's such a kind and caring lady. Must be something special about women named Anne, as I have two in my life who are nothing short of wonderful.

Matthew (WVU Lutheran chaplin) popped in from the bitter cold. There's never a moment when we see that long beard and barretta topped head coming, that our hearts don't sit up and take notice. He's become very near and dear to us, thus it seemed quite fitting to request he tend to Tony's spiritual care while in hospital.

Preparations are being made at the WVU stadium for Thursday's game. Would you believe that this HUGE hospital shares the same parking lot as the stadium? YEP! AND..... tomorrow..... the tailgaters will begin to arrive in their RVs. I think there's some unwritten policy that every alumni who ever attended WVU -----> MUST return to Morgantown for every home game.

What does this mean for Morgantown? Super crowded, already inadequate, infrastructure. There are simply not enough roads in little ole Morgantown to contain the traffic of a normal day, much less an invasion of gold and blue clad invaders from all corners of the region. It's quite a sight to see, actually, though I don't recommend leaving your home on the day of a football game, if you live here.

The biggest problem is.... the university is taking over the hospital parking lot. All visitors, residents and employees of the hospital no longer have access to the ample parking. Goodness knows where everyone will park on that day, but I guess they somehow manage. Should be interesting... and will certainly add a bit of excitement to our long days of waiting.
