THAI BOUND
Looks like our Megan will be bound for Thailand in about a month. She'll be joining the folks with Burman Border Projects and Social Action for Women (BBP and SAW) to help with the refugee children in the Mae Sot refugee camp. As a result of her desire to work in the field of "community health" she figures this will give her some great "hands on" experience... prior to entering a masters program, back here in the states. Our Mega will be in Thailand for about 6 months, and is greatly looking forward to learning more about the Thai-Burma culture, and seeing the beautiful scenery Thailand has to offer. We shall hope and pray the govt. remains stable while she's there! We'll be setting up a website and blog for Megan at www.megabroad.com, where our friends and family will get to see photos and read about her daily activities. As she'll be working as a volunteer, we'll also be requesting donations toward her daily upkeep. Fortunately, the exchange rate is VERY good, an American Dollar goes a VERY long way.
Today we found out she'll be living with the two doctors who head up the program. A great relief to this mom! I feel confident she'll be in good hands, and will also be safe. This should be a wonderful experience for her, and we hope she'll come home with a lifetime of fond and remarkable memories.
One very important item we'd like to send her with is an Apple laptop. This way we'll be able to keep in constant contact with her, and she can publish her blog and newsletter. We hope you'll help us support her in this endeavor, and help keep in touch with her. I'm sure it'll be important to receive letters from back home. More information coming soon.
Have a glorious day!
