CLARIFICATION and WINTER IS UPON US

Now that I've left you all hanging in the air for 24 hours... I'll update you on the now famous PICC line debacle.

On a fairly regular basis the nurses visit Tony to flush his PICC line, and change the dressing. During the weee hours of the morning, while Tony was sleeping, he began bleeding from the PICC line (serious problem), leaving him lying on blood soaked bed linens. The nurse on duty came and changed the dressing, and tried to fix the PICC line, or something to this affect..... only making matters worse. (geee, and she seemed to forget he was still lying on soaked bed sheets!) By 6am the PICC line was out completely, and he finally got his bed linens changed. OY!

I arrived to find dear Tony waiting patiently for news about when the new PICC line would be insterted, and he could begin his chemo again. All of the above said, I'm not really grumbling, just stating the facts. We both GREATLY appreciate (and show our appreciation) to all the staff in the hospital, from the lowliest of maintenance folk, to the highest ranking hospital administrator, and especially to our beloved Dr. Craig (Tony's oncologist). Even under the worst circumstances, Tony and I try to find a bit of humor.

Speaking of Dr. Craig. He paid a visit to Tony yesterday morning. We were teasing him about the "interesting" experiences we were having. He was none too happy, and apologized profusely, then headed off to find someone to hang from the flagpole, me thinks. hahaha Our Dr. Craig is going to try and make it possible for Tony to get his IV chemo at home.

I can see it now!!!

This should be interesting!
Yesterday the home health nurse came and taught me how to flush Tony's PICC line.

The PICC line didn't manage to get re-inserted till 7pm. So, Tony lost a good 12 hours, and we suspect he won't be going home today. As you can imagine, he's anxious to be home.

Several visitors popped in to see our Tony, and Margot arrived with some beautiful fall flowers, matching the ever colorful trees in Morgantown, putting on their finest fall colors. Winter is definately upon us, and they're talking snow in the coming week!

Must run.... much to do.
More later

Our love to you all!!!
