SURGERY WENT VERY WELL
Fr. Tony's home and resting
Dear all:
We’re home from hospital, where Tony underwent surgery to remove lymph nodes for examination. Over the coming week to 10 days, they'll do legions of tests on the tissue samples to determine what kind of lymphoma we're dealing with, and how progressed it is. The surgeon reported to me that Tony did very well, and was able to come home today. He's now resting in his recliner, sipping the nectar of the Gods... a good cup of English tea.
Monday we meet with the oncologist again, and Tuesday he returns to the hospital to have a PIC (sp?) line put in his arm. A PIC line is, I think, like a permanent IV line. It will be used to administer the IV chemo. We assume chemo will begin in about 2 weeks... once the lymphoma results have been finalized.
Our Tony is determined to do the late service on Sunday, so we may have to set up a stool for him behind the altar, just in case. If you live in Morgantown, and can be in church Sunday, please do. Your support has meant the world to us.

PREPPING FOR THE LONG JOURNEY
THAI BOUND: Continued
SHAMELESS PLUG!
Megan and I went to the international travel clinic where she was jabbed several times, (travel immunizations) in preparation for her trip to Thailand. She departs on November 7th. We've not much time left, and have mixed feelings about her being so far away. At the same time, we're so very excited she has this opportunity.
If you didn't read our previous post, "Thai Bound", you may not know she's heading to Thailand to do volunteer work with an organization called Burma Border Projects. Our Megan will be working with children, teaching English, as well as working with Women and Infants, in Mae Sot, Thailand. She's doing this volunteer work to get some "hands on" experience in the field of public health. When she returns to the states, she'll be entering a masters program (hopefully at WVU) in Community Health, with a focus on women and children's issues.
While she's in Thailand, she'll be blogging, and sending articles and information for me to put in a newsletter, for all interested. I'm also creating a website for her. Megan (the artist) will also be producing paintings, drawings, sketches to send back home. We'll most likely be displaying them on line, for sale, to help raise funds.
Due to the growing medical costs we're now facing, it's impossible for us to help finance Megan's volunteer work, and are seeking help from family and friends who would like to help. Most of you may not know that Megan put herself through undergraduate school at Augustana College, and will be bearing the expense of graduate school as well.
We've opened a bank account for donations, and have a bookkeeper managing it for us. Over the next few months we hope to help Megan raise funds for her expenses, which include:
Travel (airline to and from Thailand): $1,100
Travel Immunizations and medicine: $400
Travel to Bangkok from Mae Sot(3-5 trips):
Housing, Utilities, Communication
Travel Visas
Travel Insurance
Food and Daily essentials
Laptop Computer: $900 ($500 in donations so far)
An essential item for communication, blogging, newsletter, website and emergencies
We hope to raise $4000 over the next few months.
This is a golden opportunity for our Megan.
Please join us in helping support her while she helps others.
