Fr. Tony Update: Oxyhell hath passed
What a hellish few days it has been. We've recently discovered that Oxycodone and the Clavier brain do not mix. The combination of the two left our Fr. Tony roaming around, not knowing his bellybutton from a hole in the wall.
Under the evil grip of the oxy-demon, Tony could barely knew which way was up, slept day and night, and when awake (just barely) he was quite unable to grasp a logical or complete thought. If he did manage to muster up the strength to sit in his recliner to watch a bit of the "tele", what we had was a body, in a chair, staring off into space, or nodding off to sleep, only to startle himself awake every few couple of minutes. Things were getting VERY frightening.
Fortunately, the oxy-demon has worn off and he's now functioning like my ole Tony. Thank God! We're now in agreement that oxy-demon is not an option for pain. He's managing to shuffle around with his grey matter functioning, and not as much pain, with a combination of Tylenol and ibuprofen. Pray God that combo will do him well. The alternative is far too frightening.
Much to Tony's disappointment, he was unable to either conduct or attend the Easter service. Thank God Pastor Matthew was able to step in, and what a fine job he did. I sat in church on Easter morning, considering how "at home" Matthew seemed at Becket. He's a fine, fine priest. Later Easter Day he came by the house to visit with Tony and bring communion. We couldn't feel more blessed with having so many clergy come to Becket's aid during this difficult time.
Our Thanks and Gratitude to:
Pastor Matthew (Morgantown, WV)
George W.+ (Pittsburgh, PA)
George M.+ (Morgantown, WV)
Faith P.+ (Diocese of WV)
Pamela+ (Morgantown, WV)
and where would we be without:
**Al Prichard, John Beall and Ted Walton, our altar guild and Jeanne Elmes, who make sure the services go smoothly.
**Aurie, who keeps the ever growing Sunday School ticking along so wonderfully.
**Every member of Becket who continues to pray and care for us, keep up with the blog, and forever asks how they can help, especially Margot R., Carolyn N., Alice F., Alice M., Ann P., Dorothy S., Britt, Sarah W., Daniel C., Marian, Jamie K., John and Carol B., Carol B., and those who I may have regrettably forgot to mention.

**Irene M., who makes her self always available, and a phone call away.
**and last, but certainly NOT least, Cheryl Prichard for her undying love, compassion, friendship, and hard work as our parish Sr. Warden!
I mustn't forget to mention the most important people of all, our kids (Mark, Philip, Abbey and Megan), and my parents, who help carry the emotional load with us, through their phone calls, love and support.
Though times may be very difficult, we couldn't feel more blessed then to be here in the Becket Parish. It's so difficult to convey how wonderful it is to walk into church, knowing there are so many who genuinely care about us. Thank you all so very much! What I didn't expect, and should have, was to hear such wonderful words of wisdom poor from Matthews mouth. He too must be one of those very blessed few who function as a vehicle for God's wisdom, love, and ever present message of HOPE!
Monday Morning Update: Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow!!!
This morning Tony awoke after a good night of sleep. He requested breakfast and a cup of tea. By now you probably know that "tea" is the elixir of life to most Brits, this one included. For days he's not wanted even a cup of tea! You can see why I would be very concerned! Anyway... after his tea and cereal he got up and walked, WALKED to the kitchen, without the aid of his walker. He was so thrilled with himself, he walked to his study and has been sitting contentedly at his computer, answering emails. Three days ago he couldn't answer one email, and was sure the computer was either possessed or broken!
Our Meg-Abroad:
So, Megan will be attending University of Oregon. Thanks to the confusion and delays of her transcripts reaching the admissions department, it's too late for her to apply for financial aid. Hrumph. It looks like she'll have to delay starting at OSU for a year, while she works and attempts to establish residency (as if college fees were not enough!) in Oregon.
Over the next month we'll be looking to help her find a place to stay, and gainful employment, somewhere in Oregon. Some time in June she'll be leaving Mae Sot, with great dismay, as she's grown to love the people of Mae Sot so very much.
Megan cannot be more excited about the prospects that lie ahead. One of the more exciting things is she'll be near our dear friends Michael and Judy Gibbons. Michael is an unbelievably gifted artist (painter), and Megan has wanted to apprentice or work with him for years. This may be the opportunity she's so dreamed of!!!

Below are pictures from a wedding Megan recently attended. She had the pleasure of wearing traditional clothing, which made her stand out a bit... I hope she didn't upstage the bride with all the attention she drew. grin

Well, school starts back this week and I have a class this evening, and have yet to crack a book open. Please don't pay any attention to the time stamp on this blog, worrying I drafted it at 3am. Yes, it was started then, but finished much later in the morning.
Much love, many thanks and a very Happy Easter to you all, Pitterpat
