Fell asleep too early to find out if there was any couch burning going on in Morgantown, as a result of WVU winning the feetsball game yesterday. But, as the day progressed, I watched every parking lot within view of the 9th floor fill with hords of yellow clad fans.... looked like a beehive getting more and more active. AMAZING the number of people who flock this town for a football game! Can you imagine the amount of money invested in these football games? Now, imagine how much could be done with ALL that money, were it put into something more useful.
Yesterday was fairly uneventful. Tony was quite cranky when I arrived, having not slept well for the second night in a row. But, as the day progressed he was doing much better.
Jerry H. came to visit. Fr. Swift came and brought Tony communion. The massage therapist came, and for the first time Tony is now not poo-pooing the idea of a massage! His intestines seem to be working just fine these days, and no more vomiting. YAY!!!
Our Dr. Craig popped in later in the day, and gave us the best news of all.... that Tony's IgM levels were lower then they'd ever been. What does that mean? It means his cancer is still being kept at bay! We'd had some concern about the trauma to his system with this pneumonia, and how it could be affecting his immune system. All is well!
Alice F., a well loved British friend here, sent over a poppy for Tony. She called to tell him it was coming, and when he hung up the phone the tears began to poor. Those little red poppy pins mean the world to a Brit.... and especially our Tony who misses his mother land quite a lot.
Over the next couple of days we'll be getting Tony in tip top shape, in preparation for the surgery on Monday (as far as we know).
The bishop visited the parish this past Sunday. Sounds like the word is final about Tony's length of stay at Becket, and they'll be starting their "search" process in January. So, as Tony's recovering from surgery, he'll be preparing for visitors from other parishes interested in hiring him. So far we know of two parishes sending representatives to hear him preach, probably in December. Several others are in the process of contacting him. Please, please continue to keep Tony in your prayers for a full and swift recovery, so we can move forward with our own search process.
In the meantime, I guess I'll have to begin sorting through all our "stuff".... and beginning the process of packing.
Must get to hospital.
More as the day progresses.
Much love to you all, and ooooooodles of thanks to those who are visiting and staying in touch.
