the rest of Sunday...

Arrived at hospital. Tony was off having XRays (I believe they're XRaying his GI tract and kidney these days), and the BMT unit was being turned up-side-down.... well, sort of. The floor cleaner, polisher, buffers were clearing the hall and rooms on Tony's end of the floor. (as if the nurses didn't have enough to do?) So, we had to move anything he would need for the rest of the morning and early afternoon, to another room.

Tony arrived back at the room, and was hooked up to all his tubes and such. This morning's gourmet breakfast? Frosted Flakes! Not long after breakfast, the nurse's assistant arrived to get Tony out of bed, and sit him on a chair so she could wash his hair. Tony insisted I should go to church, so off I went.

Frantic phone call came from Tony just before communion. Thoracic (TS) doc showed up to inform Tony he was putting in an additional chest tube. I raced from church, calling head nurse on 9West to put a hold on things... or at least get Tony sedated before the torturist arrives.

Arrived in time... doc not here yet, and I think a mountain is being moved by our Mary Kay and the rest of the nurses, to get sedation ordered. We didn't see the TS doc again till later in the day. Of course, entire day was spent awaiting arrival of this doc. In the meantime, the nurses have been taking SUCH GREAT CARE of Tony. They've grown to think of him fondly which translates into me being able to rest more.

Lunchtime we managed to get a roast beef sandwich into his lordship, along with some jello and fruit. Early afternoon he was visited by a few parishioners. Not long after they left, so did his lunch. Out it came, poor guy. Fortunately I managed to get a waste basket to him before he covered himself and the bed with lunch.

TS doc re-appeared. We had a lenghty discussion the change in plan, especially considering the day before he'd spelled out how "if" they inserted another tube, it would be done with the aid of a radiologist. Apparently there's still fluid in/around the lung, thus the additional tube. TS doc also mentioned the possibility of surgery, in a couple of weeks, to further clear out the lung. WHO KNOWS!

Tony was feeling a bit better after a while and it was time for me to return to church for the stewardship dinner. Everyone was very kind, sending their well wishes to Tony. The bishop was in town to speak to the parishioners. After dinner I returned to hospital to find Tony zonked out.

Did I accomplish any of the goals for the day?
NOPE!

and no one brought Tony communion! Hrumph!

Today's goals?

SAME AS YESTERDAY
