Fr. Tony Update...
PitterPat Update...

Fr. Tony Update:

Tony continues to do well. He's been going to work every day and taking both services on Sunday.

PitterPat Update:

So far all seems to be coasting along, with only one seriously disappointing test score. I've only been in school 2.5 weeks and I think we've had at least 6 or 7 tests, if not more. I'd like to discount the test I did so poorly on as I can't imagine how many future patients I'll be discussing FREUD with! Hrumph

Today was the first day of clinicals. I got up early and ironed my ALL WHITE scrubs. When I stopped for my morning coffee, I told my buddies at Starbucks that this wasn't really a white uniform, it was actually a glaring invitation to spill coffee on myself!

Five of my other classmates met up with me and our instructor at a local nursing home. We were each assigned a patient to do "a.m. care" on. A.M. Care is essentially a sponge bath from head to toe... hair brushing.... straightening the bed linens... replacing bed pads.... and dressing the poor dears. My dear ole gal was sort of restricted when it came to physical movement. She was unable to speak, and I'm not sure how much she actually comprehended. Helping get herself bathed and dressed was not an option, as she basically lies there, day in and day out..... Her roomy, on the other hand, was more then able to speak. In fact, she was prone to screaming, or shouting, "Are you going to leave me here to die". Geeeeee

My dear lady survived her sponge bath and my attempts at diapering and dressing her. Tomorrow we return to to give it another shot. I'll have to make sure not to forget to clean her dentures for her! I wish she were more able to communicate, as I often find it enjoyable to converse with the elderly.

Sorry I've not blogged much. All these tests and all this material we're covering keeps me very busy studying, or attempting to study. Now, if I could just find a way to get my brain to cooperate by remembering all this stuff I'm reading!
